Whole-Body Tension Approach

We don’t just treat the jaw; we assess and release contributing tension patterns across the face, posture, neck, shoulders, and nervous system.

Deep Muscle & Fascia Work

Advanced techniques including intra-oral work, trigger point therapy, and fascia release to address chronic tightness at its source.

WHAT IS TMJ?

TMJ stands for the temporomandibular joint – the joint that connects your jaw to your skull. This joint is one of the most frequently used joints in the body. Every time you talk, eat, yawn, swallow, or express emotion, your jaw is working. When the muscles surrounding the jaw become tight, overworked, or imbalanced, it can affect how the joint functions, often resulting in discomfort, pain, and restriction.

TMJ dysfunction can develop for many reasons, including:

  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)

  • Jaw clenching

  • Stress and tension

  • Poor tongue posture

  • Mouth breathing

  • Previous dental work

  • Injury or trauma

  • Poor posture

  • Chronic neck and shoulder tension

Many people suffer with TMJ symptoms for years without realising the jaw is contributing to the problem.

Had a super relaxing experience with Naz I can honestly say I have never experienced a facial quite like this! it was totally amazing. I suffer with migraines and cervicogenic headaches. I felt completely relaxed and at ease it was a truly wonderful experience I felt so relaxed afterwards and had the best night's sleep . I have already booked again

COMMON SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF TMJ DYSFUNCTION

You don’t need to have severe jaw pain to have TMJ dysfunction. Common symptoms include:

  • Jaw pain or tenderness

  • Clicking, popping, or grinding in the jaw

  • Difficulty opening the mouth fully

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Facial pain or tightness

  • Pain around the temples

  • Earache or a feeling of fullness in the ears

  • Teeth grinding

  • Jaw clenching

  • Facial asymmetry

  • Tension when chewing

  • Feeling like your jaw is constantly “holding on”

Many of our clients initially seek treatment for headaches, neck tension, facial tightness, or stress-related symptoms and are surprised to discover how much tension they are holding within their jaw.

WHY JAW TENSION IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED

One of the most common things we hear from clients is the following:

“I didn’t realise how tight my jaw was until it released.”

The muscles of the jaw are incredibly powerful and are closely connected to the neck, shoulders, tongue, airway, and nervous system. When tension accumulates in this area, the effects can travel far beyond the jaw itself. This is why addressing the surrounding muscles, fascia, and nervous system can be just as important as treating the jaw directly.

OUR APPROACH TO TMJ RELIEF

There is rarely a single cause of jaw tension. That’s why our approach focuses on treating the individual rather than simply treating the symptom. Using a combination of hands-on therapy techniques, we work to release tension within the jaw, face, neck, shoulders, and surrounding tissues that may be contributing to your discomfort.

This may include:

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Trigger point therapy

  • Buccal (intra-oral) massage

  • Pterygoid release

  • Facial fascia release

  • Neck and shoulder release

  • Lymphatic techniques

  • Sound therapy

  • Reiki

  • Nervous system regulation techniques

Every treatment is tailored to your individual needs and what your body requires on the day. Contact us today to learn more about our services.

THE REVIVE ALCHEMY TREATMENT

TMJ and jaw tension relief are offered within our signature Revive Alchemy Treatment. This is a deeply therapeutic treatment designed to release physical tension while supporting relaxation and nervous system regulation.

Over the last 20 years, we have developed an integrated approach that combines structural, therapeutic, and energetic techniques to help clients experience greater comfort, ease, and balance throughout the body.

Rather than focusing solely on the jaw, we assess the wider picture, including the face, neck, shoulders, posture, fascia, breathing patterns, and areas where tension may be contributing to your symptoms.

Sessions are available in:

  • 60 minutes

  • 90 minutes

  • 120 minutes

For your first appointment, we recommend booking a 90-minute session. This allows sufficient time for assessment and treatment, ensuring we can address not only the jaw itself but also the surrounding structures that often play a significant role in TMJ dysfunction.

IS THIS TREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?

This treatment may be beneficial if you experience:

  • Jaw pain or discomfort

  • TMJ dysfunction

  • Teeth grinding or clenching

  • Chronic headaches

  • Facial tension

  • Neck and shoulder tightness

  • Stress-related tension

  • Tightness around the temples

  • Restricted jaw movement

Whether you’ve been struggling with symptoms for years or have only recently started noticing them, treatment can help bring awareness to patterns of tension and support your body in finding greater ease.
